Elizabeth Hurwitz

Solo practitioner Elizabeth Hurwitz is guided by her professional and personal experiences. As a member of numerous professional associations and with a wealth of legal knowledge, Ms. Hurwitz offers confident legal services to each of her clients. She has more than 20 years experience in mediation and contract negations; she has facilitated numerous "Alternative Dispute Resolution in the Workplace" seminars; and, is a former adjunct professor at Washtenaw Community College for mediation training and adult education classes. Her past professional experience includes extensive real estate, negotiating intellectual property rights, restructuring patent assignment contacts, conducting software contact negotiations, and assisting new media companies and film production companies with finance, contract and start-up issues.

Over the past years, Ms. Hurwitz solidified her firm to focus primarily on elder law, with some disability law. She has represented a local non-profit hospice organization, and contributes pro-bono legal services for a local Tibetan community and the HIV/AIDS community. She is an active member of NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys) and completed the Institute for Legal Education certification program in Elder Law. She is also a life coach and a member of the International Coach Federation. She was fortunate to have studied with and worked for a premier gestalt therapy organization in Italy. She finds that gestalt theory continues to inform her work as a lawyer, and regularly draws upon her past experience as a para-professional gestalt therapist.
